[underlined] STATION CONCERT PARTY. [/underlined]

“BANG ON!” performed by the Concert Party in the NAAFI on Thursday, Sept. 7th.

By “SHARKEY”

This was a “slick” show, exceptionally well produced for amateurs. Its slickness saved it from the charge, so often levelled against ENSA, of lowness. Nevertheless, many of the jokes were blue and we suggest that the show would be improved for general consumption if the undoubted talent of the Company could be directed to devising and substituting more “cracks” and situations which do not depend for their effect on the well-worn – we might say outworn – sex theme.

The compere-producer, Henry Howard, deserves first mention amongst a cast which is all worthy of mention. He was entirely adequate.

Al Beale’s Music was thoroughly enjoyed and not the least striking feature of this act was the immaculate turn-out of the members of the quartett [sic] which invoked nostalgic memories of peace time.

Renee Greene, we thought, started diffidently but quickly put over her charming personality to the audience. We were therefore surprised at the extreme embarrassment with which a certain pair of aircrew “types” received her attentions.

Ray Browne has presence and polish. The remaining items cannot be dealt with individually (though we must mention “Radio Bang-on” – we have never seen this sketch better done) so may it suffice to congratulate all concerned in a praiseworthy effort which raised £25 for the 5 Group Prisoners of War Fund.
