Dear Mam & Dad,

I don’t tihink [sic] I told you in my last letter [Sunday] but last Friday, pay day I drew £6-2-0 so I am sending £1 home, when I can get a P.O. [I stopped here for two hours to go and see a ENSA show, it was pretty good.]

Today we’ve drawn some more kit, its tropical and it look very smart, [deleted] it [/deleted] The uniform is just the sam [sic] shape as the blue uniform, only its khaki drill with red eagles and LAC propellers We have to wear a black beret as well. The shirts have pleated pockets

and lapels on the shoulders and fixed collars. We also drew a grey flannel suits [sic], one of those serge flannel on [deleted letter]es to wear as “walking out” dress, we also have a pair of low shoes.

All this is because we are going to the USA (military secret) but we are not going just yet.

Well I think thats’ all for now write back soon.

I’m going to try and find time to write to Fred and Hats tomorrow or tonight but I have to try on all the kit yet.

Well so long

Remember me to all

Your loving son

Lewis.

Don’t forget to put your address on the back of the envelope.
