Acknowledges receipt of their latest letter and parcel. Comments on journey back to camp. Writes that they had had a couple of nights off and went into Grimsby to the cinema. Mentions a good variety show at the camp theatre and plans to go to camp cinema. Asks if there was any news of Stanley Ecclestone. Closes with comment on poor weather.

Dear Mam & Dad,

I received your letter at the beginning of the week and the parcel a day later. The shaving set is fine and as good as any I have seen. Its much better than the tin box I was using.

After leaving Sheffield on Friday I arrived in Grimsby at 9:45pm and caught the 10 30 bus back to camp along with Johny Rae and the two gunners. Since then I have done a bit of flying but the weather is not too good.

When I arrived back here I had a letter from Hats waiting for me but I have not replied as his mother said she would let me have his new address but I suppose she is waiting [deleted letter] until she is sure where he is.

This week we had a couple of nights off so we went into Grimsby to see the films. We saw “Eternally Yours” which is quite good and “Lifeboat” but I do not think you would like that. Last night there was a variety on at the camp cinema and it was as good as any I have seen in the Air Force. As we are free tonight I think I shall go to the camp cinema and see “Passage to Marseilles.”

Has Mrs Ecclestone heard any more news of Stanley yet? Although it is a bit early if he is a

prisoner of war.

I do not know how it is at home but the weather here is pretty bad and you can’t ride the bike for the wind. Thanks again for the Christmas presents.
