Dear Mam & Dad,
I met Fish alright on the train and there were a few of the other boys I know with him. It cost me 3/9 for the bike but it was worth it and it is now working overtime.
As we have finished ground school we now spend all the day flying which is much pleasenter [sic] Next week we start night flying which should be quite a change and we at least will not be so hot as when [deleted] the [/deleted] day flying. When I arrived back here there were two letters waiting for
[page break]
me, yours and one from Fred Belch, and the parcel.
Fred did not say much but he appears to be getting on O.K. but he is not expecting any leave.
This week is Oxford’s “Salute the Soldier” week and this afternoon a small party of us, pilots, had to go on a parade. It was really a big parade and march past etc and according to the cheering the people here still like the R.A.F. but it was a bit embarrassing. We did not stay in Oxford as the place was
[page break]
full of troops, civil defence people and others, but came back to camp for tea and then went straight to the pictures to see “The Great Impersonation” but I did not think much of [deleted letter] it.
I am now going up to the mess for supper so I will close now.
Remember me to all.
Your loving son
Lewis
