Dear Mam & Dad,

I arrived back here OK on Tuesday evening at 9:30 so I managed to get something to eat before getting on the 10:30 bus. Johnny Rae and Dennis Eastcott were on the same bus. The other lads were back earlier except young Ralph who had to walk from Barnetby station.

Since we arrived we have not done much flying owing to the weather but it seems to be clearing up now.

Last Saturday Johnny Rae and I went into Grimsby to see

“Champagne Charlie” but we had to queue up for so long that we did not see the full program and then we had to run for the bus. Tonight I think we shall go and see “In Old Chicago” at the station cinema.

We had quite a surprise when we got back to our billet; the Canadians have moved into another hut and we have a new English crew in with us but we get along O.K. Yesterday we got some good news that two of the crews missing over Christmas and New Year a [sic] P.O.W. but I would not tell this to Mrs Eccleston.

I suppose you have been over to Stevensons’ so write and let me know about the new house and how Mrs Stevenson is getting on.

I am not sure at the moment

when my next leave will be but it will be either in five or six weeks.

I guess that’s all for now Remember me to all,

Your loving son
