Wednesday,
Dear Lewis,
Just a line to let you know I got back O.K. last night. I got into camp at about 10.50 after spending 1 1/2 hrs in Birmingham. It was good to see you again and it was the best day off I’ve had for some time. I usually spend all day in the house.
I hope you are getting on O.K. with Babs. Don’t do anything you’ll be sorry for and remember “rubber is scarce”! I wish I could have been on leave at the

same time, but I was lucky enough to have Derek so I can’t grumble. I have put my pass in for Saturday so I hope to see you then. I am going to try and get home a bit earlier but I shall only manage it if the train from Birmingham is late setting off.
Well I guess that’s about all for now so I’ll say Cheerio and I hope to see you Saturday
Fred
PS Don’t forget that girl.
