Dear Lewis,

Having overcome the shock of hearing from you I have decided to reply. Thanks for the letter even if it was a little overdue. I’m glad to hear you have got a decent place and are still alive and kicking. I am still in the same place as I was when I had my last leave and I’m sorry to say it’s not near your station.

I’m afraid you’ve got it wrong about my 21st. I didn’t have a

party as I couldn’t get home. It was at a dance here that the incident your mother told you about took place. However I wasn’t too bad and didn’t get out of control.

I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble with the local girls. I'm afraid I have nothing to report in that direction. By the way I no longer go with that girl friend as she wouldn’t write to me. I’m afraid I shan’t be seeing you on leave although I am still hoping to get some

sometime.

I heard from Hats telling me about his desission [sic] regarding his wedding. I also heard from Derek Roper who seems to be getting on O.K. I had a letter from Johnnie Middleton of the cycling club to-day and he asked about you.

Well I guess that’s all for now as I want to get some supper. Remember me to your family.
