Bank Players' Fine Effort
Although Harpenden Public Hall was only about half-full for the performance of "Love's a Luxury" by Hambros Bank Dramatic Society on Monday, those who were there enjoyed a high-class performance of a rollicking farce.
It was not surprising that the Hambros Bank players should come down to Harpenden, which they did at considerable personal sacrifice, for Mrs. Hambro has shown much interest in local charities.
The proceeds from "Love's a Luxury" were in aid of the Batford Paddling Pool, and Mr. F. N. Gingell, chairman of the Pool committee afterwards thanked the performers and also the Rainbow entertainers for scenery. Mr. Jack Hambro for furniture. Mr. George Harris, Mr. L. Gerred. Mr. Hucklesby, Mr. K. Roberts and Mrs. David Bolton for their assistance, Mr and Mrs. W. J. Brenchley for local organisation and Mrs. C. Pitts for box office work.
