Deserved Better Audience
[italics] Hambros Bank Players At Harpenden [/italics]

"LOVE'S a Luxury," presented by the Hambros Bank Players in Harpenden Public Hall on Monday, deserved a better audience, the hall being barely half full, but the play was a great success and caused continuous laughter from start to finish.

This rollicking farce shows the lengths to which some people will go in an effort to maintain a state of married bliss, and was excellently performed.

Playing the role of "Bobby Bentley," Mr. Henry Howard was very good and his modesty and enjoyment when measuring Mrs. Pentwick for a dress were well portrayed.

Mr. G. Clarke stole a lot of thunder as "Mr. Mole," but the whole cast was in the best amateur form. "Molly" was played by Miss Anne Clark: "Charles Pentwick” by Mr. C. A. Headley: "Fritzy Villiers" by Noreen Daniel; "Dick Pentwick" by Mr. Ian Pascoe; "Mrs. Charles Pentwick" by Miss Margaret Smith; "Mrs. Harris." Miss Queenie Lott; "Jollop." Mr. D. G. Thomason, "Fritzy Villiers" dog was provided by Miss Trixie Challice.

Production was by Mr. L. G. Terwey, and Mr. D. G. Thomason was stage manager, besides taking part in the play. Scenery was provided by the Rainbow Entertainers, and furniture by Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hambro.

Proceeds will be handed to Mr. F. N. Gingell for the beginners paddling pool fund at Batford.

WHISKY STOLEN

DURING the weekend the lock-up premises of J. Salmon and Son, Limited, 9, High-street, Harpenden, were entered by the forcing of a rear door. A case of whisky, a case of Martini, and a travelling case were stolen.
