Dear Ma, I have been fortunate for mail this week, having received one letter from Winnie, one from London, and one from Flo sharpe. Everything is the same here, Events march by day by day with little or no visible change. Our team has won the first march and play in the second round of the knockout, seven a side, cricket contest. Bills team has done likewise. There games are fast and furious and supply the compound with an evening of good clean fun and sport. One Tuesday one of the Batsmen took a fearful swipe at a ley ball and forgot to hold on to his bat, which lodged on the roof of one of the Billetts [sic]. A small chap was boosted up and returned the bat O.K. but; returning himself O.K seemed to present certain difficulties. All the compound rallied round, each man shouting and offering advice and encouragement. A large blanket was finally brought into which the small chap jumped. He was well tossed for a few minutes after which the cricket was resumed. I am in good Health hoping you are ditto Your loving Son Leslie.
