20 LUG 1943 XXII
Dear Ma, Reguarding [sic] mail this week has surpassed itself, letters receive are, four from you, two from winnie and one from Nellie. I am pleased to hear you receive the £18 O.K. Bill collects a fag Parcel tomorrow, so we will be O.K. for smokes for a time. A new play, “Spring Song Jennifer” starts tomorrow. All are trying to see early Performances in case it is stopped, I Hope stan is O.K. and I wish I was in the games with him as we youngsters don’t play it here. It is Funny ma, but I could really enjoy the sport even after being out of touch for two years. Please Remember me to Mrs Pepper & Hyde. Also all other friends at home. Give my best wishes to Les Bartrum and his wife. Sorry to hear of Aunties Passing. Everything here is the same as usual cricket etc. Football has Finnished [sic] for the season. The weather is Glorious. We are all in the Best of health and spirits and full of high hopes, hoping you are ditto.
