Dear Ma, Last Sun I wrote my letter to Mrs Pepper. Hoping you don’t mind. We didn’t get any cards on Wed so you’ve been a week without any word from me. I was twenty three last tues week as you know. Bill and I scoffed a whole Red cross Parcel that day to celebrate for supper we had; one tin Bacon one tin Dogs, one tin egg flakes ) equal to five eggs, followed by a Pound currant Pudding and a tin of creamed Rice each. It was a real gorge. We went to bed full for the first time since Xmas. The following three days however we lived on Rations Bust, which is’nt so hot. The weather here is Glorious, the Sun Burns white hot from a Sky of dark Blue. Winnie has been here every day for weeks now. Aurther George is O.K. and Bill. Cricket has Promoted a keen Rivalry between Rooms and compounds and Some excelent [sic] Games are witnessed. I play for my Room and have’nt made a duck out of 10 games I am O.K. Your Loving Son Leslie.
