He has had no letters but a parcel with 200 cigarettes and tobacco have arrived. Weather is very good. They have a gramophone and he intends to buy one when he returns.

27TH APRIL. 1943.

Dear Ma, Ive received no letters from anyone this week, But I’ve had 200 Rothmans and [indecipherable numbers] lbs tobacco from Flo sharpe and 1/4 lbs Baccy from the P.O.W.R.A. Bill Knight, my mate, also received 500 Rothmans from home. Aurthar [sic] George’s Pals have had cig Parcels this week so he is O.K. The weather Here is Glorious. The sun is warmer than Iv’e ever known it to Be at home. This summer is going to be a scorcher. During the past week we have had a grammophone [sic] in our room. It has been so enjoyable. I intend to Buy a portable set myself when I get home and collect Records. When you meet Reg Frame Please Remember me to him. Tell him things have not altered here. Mail is very Poor all round. Last week we had a Red cross Parcel between two. this week we will receive one each, but only twenty-five cigs in place of the usuall [sic] fifty. This won’t worry us though in view of our fag Parcels last week. Tell Flo Sharpe I’ll send her my next week card. I hope you are enjoying the Same excellent Health and High Hope I am.
