He has received only one letter. He has borrowed money to buy extra food and asks his mother to send money to his benefactor's father. Weather has been miserable but it has improved in the last day. Two or three men have escaped.

13 APRIL 1943.
Dear Ma, I’ve only had one letter this week from Winnie and am pleased to hear you received the £70 I sent you. There is more on the way. Will you imform [sic] me when you receive it and how much. I have boroughed [sic] £1 one pounds worth of camp money to by [sic] extra food with. Will you draw this money from the Bank and Send it to:- Mr. J.F. JOHNSON. 12 BROWNLOW ROAD. REDHILL, SURREY and so square the debt. Don’t fail me in this as it is a gentlemans agreement between myself and this mans son who is in this camp with me. We have had miserable weather here until today. It has Rained, Snowed and been Very windy all week. Today, However, the Sun is out at it’s best, in a cloudless, Blue Sky. Most of the Boys are sunbathing to get a tan on before we get home. Two or three men from this camp should be paying you a visit in the near future, they are on the way now. Next week we are looking forward to a Parcel each. This week we had bulk food which is not as good. We have had also only 25 fags and get the same next week. I Hope you are in the same good health I enjoy at present Your Loving Son
