Dear Ma, The only letter this week was from stan, and it was certainly a surprise. I am in good health and Hope all at home are. This letter is dedicated to our Xmas festivities. Firstly we Recieved [sic] on xmas eve, one xmas Parcel, and an ordinary Parcel between my mate and I. Xmas morning we started in great stile [sic] Haveing [sic], Porridge, Bacon, Sausages, Tomatoes, and Fried Bread for Breakfast. After giving this sumptous [sic] meal half an hour to settle we attended a carol service. For lunch we had a small but excelent [sic] Xmas Pudding between us. The afternoon was spent watching a football Match. Now for the Top of the Bill, Dinner; this was served in the mess. The tables were laid as usual for eight; each Place Having; two oranges, two tangerines two apples, one Pear, a few walnuts and three fags. The Dinner itself consisted of Roast Beef, Mashed spuds, coliflower [sic], Macaroni Pancake and Beans. Sweet; Rice with Muscatells [sic]. There were more sing Songs than that all night after a Dance.
