22 DEC 1942

Dear Ma, The only mail I’ve received this week is two Xmas cards from Nellie. The weather has broken here this week and consequentl[missing letter] we have been confined to our rooms. It has been Raining steadily for two days now. Aurthur [sic] George had a letter from Winnie this week. We are looking forward to a Reasonable Xmas day this year. The entertainments are, church service in the morning. Football in the afternoon and a Variety show a [sic] night. Food will be also better. The issued food will make a good Xmas dinner consisting of Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes, Coliflower [sic] and Macaroni Pancake, followed by sweet Rice and Muscatels Oranges and Nuts will be on the table. To crown this suptious [sic] meal we all have Shares in two Xmas and one normal food Parcel between three in addition to our normal Parcel between two. I am in the best of health and spirits Hoping all at home are likewise. Remember me to all my Pals and Friends and give them my Regards.
