Dear Ma,

The only letter Recieved [sic] this week was from Flo Sharpe. There is an old chap here who believes he knows dad. His name is Luke Burns, and he works at the Corporation Cleansing Department. Water Street. He says he may have met dad in the “Ellesmere”. All is well here and I believe we have a better Xmas to look forward to. Last year we had no Parcels this year we have at Least a Parcel of some sort. So far only 2,000 Christmas Parcels have arrived and there are over 3,000 men in this camp, but we still have 9 days for more to arrive. News is Still very cheerful indeed. I have’nt Recieved [sic] word Regarding my Pay yet. Your letter must have gone astray. I am in good Health and the Best of ever-Rising Spirits and Hope all at home are the Same. Please Remember me to all. And thank the Red Cross again for all they have done for us. Your Loving Son

Leslie.
