Dear Ma, I recieved [sic] 120 fags from Nellie Monday Last. The only letter for the week was from Nell Hallaway. It appears that all is well in London. In winnies Letter Last Sun, was new [sic] of Tom Brakewell. I have made enquiries – about him and find that Some of his unit’s Sgts are here. The Latest news I can gather, is, that Tom was Left at Benghenzi to cross the water in a later Boat. He was in good Health then. This is all I can learn. We have had two big Football Games here this week. Sgts v No 4 compound Result 3-3. and Royal Engineers v. Rifle Brigade 4-1. The Sgts Dramatic Club have disbanded to Form a new caste for the next show. “I Have been Here before” by J.B. Priestly ran for two weeks. It was Very well acted and The Props were excelent [sic], but a little too serious for a place like this. It did not go over as well a [sic] the “Middle Watch”. Pygmalion is being Presented this week. I Hope this letter finds you in the Same good Health and Ever Rising Spirits it leaves me in. Your Loving Son

Leslie.
