Dear Ma,
I've received one letter from you and one from Winnie. Winnie's was dated 25 Aug. 42. and I received it four days ago. Tell Norman to thank Joan Daley for her letter. You Remember her at the last dance we went to at Belle Vue. We are allowed to Play football again now as the Pitch has been Repaired. Two of the compounds were Playing Sat. and it was like watching a Professional game. One of the Italian officers Referees these games. We are having the compound Band play to us tonight. News here seems to be on the optimistic side but is cheering to us. Things are'nt to [sic] bad in camp but I'd sooner be here than a civy [?] outside. These People are'nt to [sic] happy now that Promises are coming out as they should. Please Remember me to all my Pals and acquaintances
I hope this letter finds you as well as it leaves me. I am in the best Spirits and good health. Tell Irean Many Happy Returns.
Your Loving Son
Leslie
