Dear Ma,
I've had one letter from Winnie, and one from Aunt Fanny this week. I met John Harry the other day and his wife may Visit you next time she is in Manchester. Many Roomers [sic] are circulating round this camp we hope they are only true. Tell Winnie to stop writting [sic] to C.S.M. Cadmad. Conditions are still the same here. We are having a concert tonight. About the pay we draw. We Get fourty lires [sic] per month out of, which, we pay twenty to buy extra food when available. The remainder is spent on fruit when available. We can get little else. To people at home this money appears to be a good thing but we would be better off without it. All damages are payed for by us many times over, so we don't get so much. The Rackets run by cantine [sic] are terrific. To give you an idear [sic]. Our Bedding costs about 2000 lires [sic]. this is an underestimate, we are responsable [sic] for this. Please Remember me to all especialy [sic] london. I've had no mail from them for seven weeks. I hope this letter finds you in the same good health it leaves me in
