Dear Sergt. Pickford

Your mother has very kindly sent me your address as I wished to send you a few lines to thank you for having spoken so nicely of my dear son Act. Wing Cmdr. Pepper who was your pilot. It has been a very great blow to me to hear that he was killed. I will be most grateful to you if you can give me any particulars of the last you saw of him? When I heard from your Mother that you had been saved I

hoped and prayed that my darling son had been saved too, but I have heard now from the Air Ministry that there is no hope of him being alive. I hope you are well & that you have made some friends. I'm sure its a great joy to your Mother to get letters from you. I'd like to send you a parcel at times but I believe we are not allowed to do so. I hope I shall have an opportunity of meeting you when you are all home again. My son always thought so much of his crew. With best wishes for the New Year. I do hope you will write when you are able to.

Yours sincerely

G.L. Pepper
