Dear Lewis,
Thanks for your letter which I received last night when I got back from my week-end at home. I was on night guard in the depot all last week so I got my pass at 10.0 on Saturday morning. I was in Sheffield before 4.0. I went to the Palace with my mother and father to see Miff Smith and the Green Sisters’. It was quite

a good show.
I see you are having trouble with your women now. I haven’t been with any for a long time now so I don’t have any trouble. However I wouldn’t mind a date with Pat some time. I bet one could have quite a good evening with her.
You seem to have a different idea of Leeds than Derek Roper. He told me it was a smashing place. He liked it so much that he never bothered to go home at the weekends. Of course if I was welcomed the same as him at home I don’t think I would. When he was [deleted word] on leave his mother didn’t

speak to him half the week because he wouldn’t take her out.
I haven’t heard anything about moving yet but there are a lot going just now so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I have been remustered now as a telecommunication mechanic which means I am supposed to know wireless and radio. I’m afraid I know very little about wireless and nothing about radio. I hope you have got your little crown up now.
Well I think that’s about all for just now as nothing exciting ever happens here
