Easter Monday

My dear Mum & Dad,

Well here I am dears & taking it easy too for a change. I am on a weeks leave in Toronto which was given to me because a Posting had not yet come off for me. Some people who I met on my first visit to Toronto are now putting me up for the week. It was really swell of them, because I was only in Toronto for 5 days when we first landed in Canada & they hardly know me. Toronto is marvellous at this time of the year, warm, with a swell breeze & lots of sunshine, All the trees are green & theres no snow anywhere, in fact just a typical

English Spring. I think Toronto is the finest city in Canada, plenty to do, there are 20 or 30 cinemas & about 20 dance halls. It is right on Lake Ontario which looks just like the sea because you can't see the other side at all, in fact England would go into lake Ontario & you wouldn't notice the difference. Toronto has got everything, a swell city surrounded by glorious country. In fact everything you could wish for. And jobs are plentiful too. If anyone had got the money to come out here after the war it would certainly pay them. Absolutely every body has a car & a big one too. Still the war isn't over yet & wev'e got to finish that first, & I want to get back to dear old England.

I shall be just lazing around all next week, I shan't be able to go to lots of shows or anything because I haven't got much cash. But the rest will do me good, I can get up when I like & I can do with the sleep, the family took me out for

a swell drive in the car yesterday, so I drove the car round to a spare piece of ground behind the house & cleaned it this morning, its not much but at least it might show a little of my appreciation.

Well dears, I went to church on Good Friday evening & also Easter Sunday morning & the services were swell. Friday night it was a two hour choral service, & some of the choirs over here are terrific, most of them have 30 or so girl sopranos & altos with about 20 male tenors & alto bases. Sunday was the usual Easter Service & it was very nice too. We drove to church in the families car & the church was absolutely packed. Mr Currie who is the person with whom I am staying is the Regional Petrol controller for Canada.
