Dear Mrs Warner,
I was indeed sorry to have [missing word] advise you that your Son, 1801861. Sgt Warn[missing letters] [indecipherable letter] H.A is missing from Air Operations & it is with sincere sympathy both of myself & entire Squadron that I write you at this time .
Your Son was Flt Engineer in an [missing letter]ircraft that took off on an operational Sortie over enemy territory on the night of the 3-4 Sep 1943. but I regret to say failed to return to base. No messages were received from the aircraft after take off & nothing has been heard of it or any member of the crew. There is always the possibility that they may have come down by parachute or made a forced landing in enemy territory in which case news of this would take a consider[missing letters] time to come through, but you will be immediately advised of any further informa[missing letters]
[page break]
that is recieved. [sic]
Your Son has shown great keenness & efficiency in his work during the time he has been with the Squadron & had become a popular member who will be greatly missed here & his duties were always carried out with a fine courage & determination
The personal effects of your Son are now in the custody of the Committie [sic] of Adjustment Office, R.A.F station, Ludford Magna, who will shortly be writing to you concerning their disposal.
I feel most deeply for you at this anxious time & we all join with you in hoping & praying that some good news will eventually come through.
Yours sincerely
