My dearest Jean,
Thanks so much for your last letter dated 2nd March, you’ve written me several where as I don’t seem to have written to you for ages, however I’ve heard your voice on the phone so that should fill in the gap a little.
I’ve just sat down after being busy since 2.30 AM, have had a piece of your cake to sustain me
[page break]
before getting down to letter writing, its very tasty and Jack and Ron can vouch for that to [sic], they’ve eaten nearly half of it already.
Well, things are all organized for leave, I’ve filled in my leave form and am going to arrange for petrol coupons tomorrow, its best to do it well in advance so that we don’t have to hang about at the last moment. Ron thinks after all that he may be coming to London so perhaps it would be a good idea to meet me, I’ll give you a ring from Waterloo and you can meet me at Surbiton

then we can go on home. As I mentioned on the phone I think Monday would be a good day to go to Broadstairs, probably returning on Wednesday, has your gentle hints shown any signs of working at Eastwoods? or is old fruit still in a bad mood?
We actually had a day off yesterday, we went into Cambridge, saw a show and had some food out, finally ending up in the inevitable

local for a few beers. We had quite a pleasant evening, makes a change and breaks up the routine a little.
The weather does’nt seem too bad at the moment, its quite cold but nice and light.
Well, darling, this time next week we hope to be occupying the settee upstairs at home, wonder what we shall talk about, I can guess can’t you?
Must pack up now, am writing to Mother & Dad by the same post.
Please thank your Mum for the note she put in the parcel and remember me to both of them
All my love darling, Jack
