My dearest Jean
Just a few lines to let you know I got back to camp alright. The train was 20 minutes late at Claygate but I caught the Cambridge train at Liverpool Street with five minutes to spare, as usual the local train was late starting and I arrived in Haverhill at 9 o/c, the buses were running so I was in

the mess by 9.45. I met Ron at Liverpool Street and the rest of the boys at Cambridge.
They have’nt had quite so much snow here as at home and today seems a little milder so that I expect it will clear before night.
Some rather disappointing news, our leave has been altered again until a week later, starting on 28th January, can tell you I thought it was too good to be true.
Thanks so much for your letter written last Sunday which was waiting for me when I returned, I wont pass

any comments, as I think I did quite well on Sunday night and Monday evening. I will mention one thing however, its surprising what high prices people pay to send carol singers into the next street, should think with the one of Englands foremost singers a sum of £500 could easily be obtained, still perhaps she may have other plans next year.
Well darling I want to get this off by the next post so will say cheerio take care of yourself.
All my love dearest
Yours Jack
