My darling Jean
Just a few lines to wish you a Happy Christmas, its a great pity not being able to get home but perhaps next year we may spend Christmas in our new home, that's certainly a wish I should like to come true, however if we are together it will be something.
I have'nt heard from you yet, expect the mail is delayed, it seems to be arriving slowly, I have just got

your other letter from Tuddenham, I read the bit about Charles Wavells (or Wavrel don't quite know which) idea of your voice, did you get the bit about "moonlight on your hair" from the same source? shall have to try and think up some good ones of my own.
When I came back from leave I had decided to save your Mothers cake until Christmas, however I was tempted and started on same, its really a wizard effort, a proper Christmas cake, tell her it would’nt have been better even if it had [indecipherable word] a foot high.

As you have probably guessed the weather has been pretty bad, thick fog the whole time, we've done no flying at all, makes things a bit boring, still tomorrow is another day.
Have just received a letter and Christmas card from Aunt Lill, I'm thinking of asking her in my next letter for a copy of the letter she wrote to you, you see I must have something to fall back on when you start nagging me, I wonder which is the best way to protect myself, got any ideas that don't connect with

rolling pins and so forth?
The station is giving a childrens Christmas party today, they had Father Christmas come in by plane and pull up at the control tower much to the childrens delight, they then had a big tea in the N.A.A.F.I. and were given presents made by people on the camp, transport collected and took the children home, quite a good show.
Well darling, must pack up now, take care of yourself, write soon,
All my love
Yours
