Dear Mr. Barralet,

[underlined] 85233. Pilot Officer A.F. Barralet. [/underlined]

A copy of your letter dated 12th November 1941 addressed to the Officer Commanding, Central Depository has been forwarded to me for attention.

I am pleased to say that a cap belonging to your son has come to hand and you should be receiving it in due course. I have also, a greatcoat which may belong to your son, but so far, I have been unable to identify to whom it belongs as there is no name or number inside of it. I am still making enquiries with a view to ascertaining the owner, and should it be that it is your son’s property, I will despatch it as soon as possible.

With regard to the two squash racquets and the bag of golf clubs, these items were never produced when your son’s effects were checked but perhaps you can help me by supplying me with a description of the clubs, together with the number of clubs your son had, and also in what kind of a bag they were contained.

It is thought that perhaps your son may have left the clubs at a course where he played. I would advise you that I have been in communication with the honorary secretaries of various golf clubs in this district, and I have been informed by one that he has certain unidentified clubs in the clubhouse, but naturally, he will not dispose of them unless a full and correct description can be supplied.

P.T.O.

[page break]

Perhaps you may know the name of the course on which your son played while he was at Linton, and if so, this and any other information you can give me will be most helpful to me in continuing my enquiries.

Yours truly,
