Madam,
[underlined] 1576142. Flight Sergeant S. SHAW. [/underlined]
I am directed to refer to this Department’s letter of the 25th October, 1943 in which you were notified that your present allowance would be continued until 16th February, 1944 provided your husband was still officially regarded as missing, and to inform you with regret that as, unfortunately, the death of your husband has now been officially presumed, it will be necessary to reduce your allowance to 58s. 6d per week with effect from 3rd February, 1944.
A new order book for the reduced weekly amount has accordingly been sent to the Post Office and will be handed to you on the surrender of the enclosed F.A. Form 131.
