REDRUTH.
CORNWALL.
Dear Mr Birt,
It seems an awfully long time since I last wrote to you or you to me. But I often wonder how you all are and what the new home is like. Wish I could come and be a nuisance to you again! I used to enjoy those quiet week ends
[page break]
in London a great deal. Do you remember how dashed untidy the house looked just before I left, with all my kit scattered everywhere? I’m blessed if I know how you managed to put up with it!
I have rather a nice car now, a fourteen-six, quite large for England. I am going to take a photograph of it and send to you, I think.
[page break]
I bought it off my father, as a matter of fact, as it was too large for him under present conditions. But, I am lucky, I belong to one of the few branches of the armed forces which gives a little petrol for joy riding, that is, op. aircrew. I should like to tell you all about my
[page break]
job, but of course I am not able to.
I am feeling rather sleepy having eaten a very large lunch. Have just lighted a cigarette, that’s better, after lunch the flight commander and I invested “half a dollar” each in a fruit machine and won the jack pot of about ten shillings.
Am going to do a little work now as am feeling sleepy again.
Love to all,
Yours,
[underlined] George [/underlined]
