Sir,
I am directed to inform you, with deep regret, that in view of the time which has elapsed since your son, 2223326 Sergeant W. Perkins, was reported missing and the absence of evidence of his survival, it must be concluded that he has lost his life.
In these circumstances, and assuming that you have no information which would indicate that he is alive, his death has now been presumed, for official purposes, to have occurred on 21st March 1945.
In conveying this information, I am to express to you and Mrs. Perkins the sympathy of the Air Ministry in the anxiety you have suffered, and in your bereavement.
