Description

A steam ship passing the lighthouse. On the reverse 'No. 19 The Suez Canal Lighhouse in the Bitterlakes. From Deversoir to Geneffe the Canal is let on through the Bitterlakes, formerly a dry depression but in ancient times connected with the Red Sea. It is supposed that Moses let the Israelites through this part of the Red Sea when they went out from Egypt'.
