Martin is the only man in the photo to have numbers written under his name, 479. Brown and Hancox are wearing gloves, McIntosh is also wearing gloves, however only on his right hand. Brown also has his right hand resting on the shoulder of Cluff. Bates has his right left in his overcoat pocket. Snow can be seen on the ground underneath the men.
